ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist María de la Rosa created the abstract forms of Hieroglyphic Crow using dark, gestural brushstrokes and expressive lines.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Orcas Island School District and Highline Community College.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

María de la Rosa is a California-based artist working in the performance and production of dance. Her focus is on the Folklórico dance traditions of Mexico and other heritage arts.

De la Rosa earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Stanford University. She has performed throughout the U.S. and Mexico.
