ABOUT THE ARTIST

Seattle-based artist Victor Gardaya (1945-1991) created fine art, documentary, and commercial photographs. Raised in New York City, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from the City College of New York in 1968. He earned an Associate of Arts degree in photography from Seattle Central College, and pursued graduate studies at the University of Washington in Seattle. He began teaching photography at Seattle Central College in 1977. The Washington State Arts Commission awarded him a special commendation in the Honors Program for Visual Artists in 1979.
