ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Pablo Cano created the marionette sculpture Jean-Honoré Fragonard using recycled materials and found objects with personal and symbolic significance. This piece was created for a 1991 performance titled "The Pursuit of Love." The figure depicts the 18th century French Rococo artist Jean-Honoré Fragonard.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Olympia School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Miami, Florida-based artist Pablo Cano creates elaborate marionette puppets as animated sculptures. Born in Havana, Cuba, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Queens College of the City University of New York in 1986.
