Currents is an abstract painting by artist John Holmes. He states, "These images are the traces of a timeless struggle between intuition and conscious intent. Each work is a voyage into the unknown, and an extension of the known."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with East Valley School District (Spokane).

ABOUT THE ARTIST

John Holmes is a Walla-Walla-based artist and musician. He trained in classical guitar from an early age. He composes and performs original compositions influenced by jazz and Latin American folk music.
Holmes studied at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Southeastern Washington, and the Pratt Instititue in New York City. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute in California in 1976.
