ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Don Hilario is a portrait by photographer Macduff Everton. The image captures his friend, Don Hilario Hiler in his house in Chichimila, Yucatan, Mexico. He notes, "It was late afternoon, his sister in-laws were passing in and out of the house getting ready for a feast after a day of prayers and ceremonies for the gracias a Dios (thanks to God) that takes place every fall after the harvest."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with East Valley School District (Spokane).

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Santa Barbara, California-based artist Macduff Everton creates fine art and documentary photographs, as well as fiber-based artworks. His portraits and landscape images are inspired by his world travels. He is a contributing editor at National Geographic Traveler. He received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
