(American, born 1946, died 2007)

Location: Washington State Patrol - District VI Headquarters, Wenatchee, Wenatchee

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Red Rocks is a realistic landscape painting created by artist Jim Colbert. The imagery shows an opening-air amphitheater near Denver, Colorado. Distinctive rock formations frame a stage that has hosted performances since 1906. He notes, "The magnificence of the natural forms, in my view, is not in opposition or judgmental contrast to the human elements; but in fact the two play off against one another in an intriguing and enriching counter-play."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Patrol Shared Collection.
