Artist Steve Gillman's Time Frame seems to be coming out of the ground but also sinking into the ground. The artwork's site and surroundings play an important role for Gillman when he is creating.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with University of Washington.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Artist Steve Gillman creates sculptures and installations for public spaces. In his own words, "It is about sites; their history, their contexts, or how they are used." He is based in Oakland, California.
Gillman received a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco State College in 1969, where he later received a Secondary Teaching Credential. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from the University of Oregon in Eugene.
