ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Metal Mural by artist Bill Whipple combines various metal materials into a checkerboard installation. Created to stimulate thought and conversation about the purpose of tools and the process of making, the installation is bordered by descriptions of basic tool uses. It is installed at the entrance to the woodshop at Franklin High School.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Seattle School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Northwest artist Bill Whipple creates viewer-activated sculptures made of various materials including wood and metal. He lives and works in Seattle, Washington. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1970.
