ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Angelita Surmon created Pinning Thoughts to a Target by combining and layering handmade paper, stenciled imagery, and gestural painting. Inspired by an essay by poet Naomi Shihab Nye, Surmon intended that her painting "show those times when our bodies outwardly reveal our internal workings".
