Part of artist Juliana Heyne's series of garden paintings, Northwest Garden #12: Fall/Winter intricately layers and combines colors, forms, and textures to depict the stark contrasts in her garden as it evolves between seasons. She considers these paintings "a form of self-portraiture, my garden, changing every year."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with The Evergreen State College.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Seattle-based painter Juliana Heyne captures imagery based on her travels near and far. She is inspired by the beauty of aging cities, construction sites, and natural structures in the middle of nowhere. In her own words "No matter the subject matter, there's some kind of beauty at its core that draws me."
