ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Calla Lilies is a still-life print by artist Julie Gaskill, and is part of her series of five flower etchings. Gaskill notes that her interest in printmaking grew from her fascination with the "immediacy and timelessness" of drawing.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Transportation.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Seattle-based artist Julie Gaskill works in painting, printmaking, drawing, and sculpture. She was an art professor at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle for twenty years from 1994 to 2014.
Gaskill received a Bachelor of Arts in art from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. She also studied art at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France, where she lived for ten years.
