ABOUT THE ARTWORK

River Passage is part of a body of paintings by artist Kathleen Caprario. These works feature landscape images bordered by decorative frames made from gold leaf and copper sheeting. The artist notes that her use of a distinctive frame “helps to separate the painted image from the outside world…” The landscape images are inspired by the artist’s sketches done on location.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lake Stevens School District.
