ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist David Grant Best describes photography as "an experiential starting point" and a process of making choices that awaken our imaginations. His image Snow, Trees, Road; Snoqualmie Valley captures a luminous winter landscape that can recall childhood memories and a sense of hopeful expectation for many viewers. Best notes that in viewing this image "one can easily imagine walking home from school along a country road or waiting expectantly for a certain special person to appear from around the bend in the road. Perhaps there are yearnings for a simpler, almost forgotten way of life."
