Talking Herstory, 1990

Yong Soon Min
(American, born 1953)

Location: Shoreline School District, Shoreline

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Talking Herstory is a conceptual print by artist Yong Soon Min, and is comprised of an assemblage of personal family photographs, images of historic leaders, and fragments of a world map. The juxtaposition of these images creates an intersection of personal and political histories, which Min notes is "an intentional strategy to symbolically represent those of us who are objectified or absent in official historical narratives as active subjects of a living history."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Shoreline School District.
