ABOUT THE ARTWORK

La Push is part of a series of thirteen unique prints created by artist Linda Okazaki. This series was created alongside a children's story about a young girl facing a journey after the loss of her mother. It was inspired by the artist's memories and shared experiences visiting the La Push ocean coast in Western Washington with her family.

Okazaki created this series during a printmaking residency in 1994 at Centrum, a center for the arts in Port Townsend, on the Olympic Peninsula in Northwest Washington.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Social and Health Services.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Port Townsend, Washington-based artist Linda Okazaki creates narrative, landscape, and still-life paintings.
Okazaki earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington, in 1974. She was a member of Washington State University's Fine Arts Department for seven years. She currently teaches at the Port Townsend School of the Arts on the Olympic Peninsula in Northwestern Washington, where she also lives and paints.
