ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Capped Vessel is a monotype by artist Nancy Halbrooks. It is part of her ‘Vessel, Book and Body’ series of conceptual prints. She notes, “This series focuses on the concept of containers, the variety of forms that contain other things, such as vessels contain fluids, bodies contain spirits, and books contain words.”

Monotypes are unique prints created by painting directly onto the printing plate. Usually only one print can be made from the plate.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Central Kitsap School District.
