ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Aztec Phone is part of artist Fernando Hernandez's series of ceramic sculptures titled 'Polychronisms.' He notes that this body of work explores his experience as an immigrant to the United States and "ideas of bi-culturalisms and inter-cultural relationships."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Ellensburg School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Artist and teacher Fernando Hernandez creates ceramic sculptures.
Hernandez was born in Mexico City and is part of a family of artists and muralists. He moved with his family to California as a teen and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in ceramics from California State University at Hayward, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics and sculpture from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington.
