ABOUT THE ARTWORK
A Train Runs Through It is part of artist Selene Santucci's series of paintings that explore her experience living abroad in Italy. An Italian-American, she notes, "this connection with my cultural heritage released a new energy into my work." This piece depicts the crowded but joyful dynamic of living in Rome. She created the composition by laying down paint and then scraping it off in layers. She refers to this method as an "excavation."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Pullman School District.
