Simon Kogan
(American, born 1959)

Location: Discovery Primary, Milton

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Motherhood is an example of artist Simon Kogan's sculptures, created through an ancient bronze casting process, that celebrate the connection between mother and child. Kogan sees this piece, which depicts the baby slung over the mother's hip, as a representation of a "specifically American" style of holding a baby.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Fife School District.
