ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Radiolaria #2 is a bronze sculpture by artist Cyrra C. Robinson. The title and form reference microscopic protozoa found in the ocean. Elaborate skeletons characterize these single-celled organisms. The artist notes, "Through line, repetition, and texture, these sculptures memorialize the efficacy of natural design, so evident in the creatures who exist, without cessation, under the forces of the ocean currents."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with The Evergreen State College.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Cyrra C. Robinson is a sculptor based in Tumwater, Western Washington. Her artworks in metal and stone draw on elements and imagery from nature. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sculpture from The Evergreen State College.
