ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artists Rebecca Cummins and Paul DeMarinis' three-part installation ‘Lunar Drift' suggests an insight into our place in the universe. The images on these 365 wall discs were taken each day of 2014 when the moon reached the highest point in the sky and show the phases of the moon over Western Washington University in Bellingham, in Northwestern Washington. The images compliment the kinetic sculpture that tracks the position of the moon and the sun, as well as the 48 wall disc images showing the changes in the Bellingham sky throughout 2014.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Western Washington University.
