ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Cable Griffith's painting Return to the Source depicts a colorful and stylized built environment influenced by nature and ecology. There are references to the pixel and early video game imagery. Griffith notes that "A longing for harmony, balance, and the mystery of the unknown has led me on a search for a place that does not exist".
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Peninsula College.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Cable Griffith is a Seattle-based painter, curator, and educator. His paintings draw parallels between landscape paintings and video games.
Griffith received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boston University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. As a curator, he served as Kirkland Arts Center’s Exhibitions Director from 2007 to 2010. He served as Exhibitions Curator at Cornish College of the Arts from 2010 to 2014. He is an educator at Cornish College of the Arts.
