ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Janet Essley's colorful, four-part mural Transformation represents the world of education, where students explore their world guided by patterns taught and revealed by their teachers. The four paintings reference the natural landscape around the school in Auburn, Western Washington, and suggest the potential for the future. Their organic shapes are inspired by Auburn-area lakes and the school's namesake, Lakeland, an Auburn neighborhood.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Federal Way School District.
