ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Silver and Black is a series of three installations by artist Stuart Nakamura. They are located in the Light Industrial Complex at the Property Management Division of the Washington State Patrol. At each entrance, a bench structure and building façade celebrate the tools and service utilized in each department. The Supply Building entrance features references to the trooper's uniforms and badges. The Facilities Management Building entrance features a saw blade motif. The Fleet Building entrance features a design of wrenches and tire tracks.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Patrol.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Artist Stuart Nakamura creates sculptural, site-specific artworks inspired by the cultural history, location, and character of each setting. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland in 1977. He lives and works in Seattle, Washington.
