ABOUT THE ARTWORK
'Erickson Theater Lobby' is a glass and fiber-optic installation by artist Douglas Hansen. It features many components. These include a laminated glass ticket counter and fiber optic floor with inlaid glass pieces. A fused glass canopy of colored glass is installed at the entrance.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Seattle Central Community College.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Douglas Hansen is a Seattle-based glass artist. He creates site-specific installations, working closely with architects and designers. He was born in Christchurch, New Zealand. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1975. He studied at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Northwestern Washington, with several master glass artists.
