ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Through Your Hands was created by artist Jeannette Meyer to celebrate her first child leaving home for university studies. It combines symbols from several of her earlier quilt series. The imagery of hands, trees, moons, and abstract forms explore themes of identity, womanhood, time and transition.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Renton School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Oregon-based artist Jeannette Meyer creates conceptually expressive fine art quilts. Exhibiting her work nationally and overseas, Meyer also teaches and writes about surface design and art quilt design.
