I See Heaven When I Look At A Tree, 2000

(American, born 1945, died 2005)

Location: Stewart Elementary, Puyallup

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I See Heaven When I Look At A Tree is part of a series of prints created by artist Anne Byerrum that depict trees and natural imagery. Inspired by the interconnectedness of all reality, Byerrum stated that these images seek to capture all that is contained in a tree: "the seed, the soil, the water, the sun, the cloud, the air. I see each person who cares for the tree, who sees the tree and who breaths in its life-force. I see they too contain all the elements that are shared by the tree. And I see myself and our ancestors and children to come. I see all of life."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Puyallup School District.
