ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Ski Bunny is a painting by artist Melissa Madsen that celebrates the beauty of winter and the fun of skiing. She notes "I have always been charmed by the term 'ski bunny' and find that children all bundled up in their warm clothes fit the term. Their enthusiasm for the sport is infectious."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with North Thurston Public Schools.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Artist and illustrator Melissa Madsen (formerly Melissa Bale) creates artworks inspired by local nature and celebrating childish wonder. Madsen grew up in western Montana where she developed a love for its “pristine wilderness.” She spent some of her career in Eastern Washington before moving back to Montana.
